These are my Concept Photos and how they bring out the meaning of my Project
These are my concept photos and they help visually express the meaning behind my project COMA. The main idea of the project is to represent the feeling of emotional numbness and the constant mental struggle that comes with overthinking and anxiety, which connects to the song Numb Little Bug.
In these photos the character is shown sitting alone in a quiet space, which helps create a sense of isolation. The body language and facial expression are intentionally calm and distant to represent the feeling of being emotionally disconnected, almost like being stuck in a mental state where you cannot fully feel or react to what is happening around you. This reflects the idea of being in a “coma” metaphorically, where someone is physically present but mentally trapped in their own thoughts.
The colour grading of the image uses cool and slightly desaturated tones. This was done to create a cold and heavy atmosphere that reflects the emotional theme of the project. The lighting coming through the curtains also creates soft shadows, which adds to the feeling of loneliness and introspection.
The costume and makeup in the first picture also help support the concept. The soft oversized clothing represents vulnerability, while the darker layers and dark makeup symbolise the emotional weight and exhaustion caused by overthinking. Together these elements visually represent the contrast between how someone may appear on the outside and what they are experiencing internally.
The second picture, with natural clothes, minimal makeup, and warm tones, creates a calmer and more approachable mood. It represents moments of simplicity or clarity, showing the side of someone that feels more grounded or at peace.
Overall, these concept photos help establish the mood, character, and emotional meaning of my project. They visually introduce the themes of numbness, isolation, and internal struggle that are explored throughout the music video and the rest of the digipak project.
